Me and My Therapy Practice

I trained at Roehampton University gaining an Advance Diploma in Integrative Counselling in 2005.  I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework.

As a counsellor with many years experience I work with young people, families and adults. I will support you with unconditional positive regard, with empathy and understanding.  Your thoughts and feelings will be valued and respected.  With these important aspects in place you will affect your own growth and change, strengthening and expanding your own identity, independent from the condition of others. I will support and encourage you to access your own internal resources to fulfil your highest potential and find your own way to move forward positively.

Working with Young People

Having been lucky enough to specialise in working with young people during my training I now work within my private practise, and for two local charities, with young people from 11 years.  I have previously worked within a GP surgery and a senior school as counsellor.  Young people face enormous pressures in this fast-paced modern world - it can often feel full of rules but with unclear boundaries.

Being given the chance to be supported by someone who is not connected to home, school, university or a new job can be both beneficial and empowering and can remove a lot of pressure.

I often work creatively, especially with young people, and offer a range of tools for this work.

Walking Therapy

I am very happy to offer walking sessions and welcome taking our work into the great outdoors.  Confined spaces can be difficult for some and living in South Hams offers a huge space for expression, nature, mindfulness and calm reflection.  Many of my clients have fed back to me that walking has helped them work at a deeper level. If this is something that might appeal to you when thinking about counselling please mention it to me!
