Me and My Therapy Practice

After obtaining my Certificate in Counselling Theory and Skills in Wiltshire, I trained at Roehampton University gaining an Advance Diploma in Integrative Counselling in 2005.  I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework.

As a counsellor with many years experience I have an interest in enabling you to understand how unhelpful thoughts and unconscious emotional processes can cause you to remain in a cycle of repeated unwanted behaviours and how these can negatively affect your life. I will support you with unconditional positive regard, with empathy and understanding, and without any imposed standards or conditions of worth.  I will walk with you along a path where your thoughts and feelings are valued and respected.  In this way, you will affect your own growth and change, strengthening and expanding your own identity, independent from the condition of others. I will support and encourage you to access your own internal resources to fulfil your highest potential and find your own way to move forward positively.

Working with Young People

Alongside working with adults I also offer help and support to young people from the age of 12 years. Young people face enormous pressures in this fast-paced modern world - it can often feel full of rules but with unclear boundaries.  Being given the chance to be supported by someone who is not connected to home, school or university can be both beneficial and empowering and can remove a lot of pressure.

Creativity and Walking Therapy

I often work creatively, especially with young people, and offer a range of tools for this work, including; crafts, pens, props, games and sand-tray.

I am very happy to and encourage taking our sessions into the great outdoors.  Confined spaces can be difficult for some and living on the South Downs offers a huge space for expression, nature, mindfulness and calm reflection.

If this is something that might appeal to you when thinking about counselling please mention it to me!

It can be daunting deciding whether to begin counselling or not and for this reason I offer a 20 minute free telephone consultation. This is not a counselling session but will help you decide whether it is the right path for you.

Areas of Counselling

I have experience of supporting clients in a range of areas including;

  • anxiety

  • bullying

  • self-harm

  • depression

Where, When and How Much?

I work in comfortable, private rooms in Petersfield, Liss and Havant.  I also offer Skype appointments.

Counselling sessions are usually weekly and depending on your needs our work together can be either short or long term. In our first session we will discuss our contract and explore what has brought you to counselling and I will explain how I work and how I can help.

A session lasts 50 minutes and my rate is £40 per session.
